ALL THE DETAILS

Where is Oxford Prep Academy located?

We're located in Woodstock, Ontario Canada just 90 minutes west of Toronto and 30 minutes east of London, Ontario.

Which league do you play in?

Our teams play regular season and showcase tournaments in the North American Prep Hockey League (NAPHL) in Canada and United Tier 1 Hockey League (UT1HL) in the United States. We also participate as guest teams in select tournaments and schedule exhibition play against top ranked programs, providing further exposure to our players. Our season begins in September and runs until April each season.

Is there a governing body?

We're governed by the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU), an amateur sports organization based in the United States. A multi-sport organization, the AAU is dedicated exclusively to the promotion and development of amateur sports and physical fitness programs.

What does the season schedule look like?

60+ game season; 4-5 NAPHL Showcases (4 games in each); 3 UT1HL Showcases (4 games in each); 2 tournaments (Ontario, Quebec, USA); NAPHL regular season 16 games (8 home, 8 away); 8-10 exhibition games vs selected Prep Programs.

What is the weekly practice and training schedule?

Sabres weekly programming runs 5 days per week after school hours and weekends. 3-5 hours of practice a week (depending on the game schedule), 4 hours of hockey specific workouts, 1 hour of skill specific development (power skating, edge/skill training, shooting), and on-demand full-time access to Sabres Training facility in Woodstock.

Does Oxford Prep provide equipment?

Sabres are outfitted with the best on and off the ice: 3 game jerseys, practice jersey, player helmet, player gloves, hockey socks, hockey pants (not shells!), Sabres moisture-wicking T-shirt and shorts, Sabres sweater, and Sabres winter jacket.

How do you measure development?

Full team stats including player and goalie stats; monthly report cards from coaching staff including strengths, weaknesses, monthly stats, fitness results, and player grades; player improvement meetings as needed with coaching staff.

Does Oxford Prep support player advancement?

Oxford Prep provides advisory and pro-active support to players deemed ready to advance to the next level in their hockey journey. This may include team scouting reports, Elite Prospects statistics, pro-active player promotion, engagement with inbound teams, and player and parent advisory.

Do I need to change schools?

Oxford Prep is a hockey program and does not provide academic education. Local players can continue to attend their current secondary school and drive in for training each day. Non-local players can choose online schooling or local secondary schools. Additional school board charges may apply to international players.

What are your fees?

Our recruitment process will provide information on our fees and expenses. Sabres also engage in team organized fundraising efforts with each player reducing their tuition fees by the amount they have successfully fundraised.

Do you provide Billet accommodations?

Players are matched with a billet family, who provide meals, transportation, and a private bedroom as part of the billeting process. Players that are local are not required to billet. The Oxford Prep billet program is designed to offer student-athletes a home away from home.
